Sophie was summoned to the capital for a meeting with one of the members of the oversight comittee. She entered an office after being cleared through security. In this office was a mid-forties man whom just nodded. "So Captain... The committee has approved Captain Layton's appointment to flag; as much as we hate the iea of a child being flag shes proven herself." "I figured you guys would make that decision..." Sophie replied as she sent a VX message off. "Good then; on with the discussion on deployments and such..." The two go into a discussion that would take hours.
Meanwhile in the senate chambers the chief of the senate called a session to order.
The Senate chair looks around the room. Some of the senators wre not there but there was enough to call things to order. "Good morning gentlemen; ladies... Any pressing matters before we begin our arguments on today's topics." (The chair is a Klingon now if I remember right)
Meanwhile outside the main security gate a shuttle lands. It stays here for way too long; sending guards to deal with it would be stupid and typically what terrorists would expect. So they send an unmanned mech to investigate.
The senator that represented the sector block for the so called "Solarian League" simply sat in his chair, looking quite annoyed at the appointment of a child to that of a flag Officer.
The security mech finds a bomb inside the shuttle and the security gate seals the enterence. It was far enough away that it would not affect operations inside the buildings but security was heightened. More personnel were called in.
An older female Senator from Earth spoke up. "I suspect that for many of us — more than we might think — it feels somehow off to picture a woman Captain sitting in the Command chair of starship. It's discordant to hear a woman's voice booming forth. She's obviously capable. But if we disregard her gender, how many of you would shut up."(edited)
More guards come and walk up to the security checkpoint. four of them pull out their weapons and kill their comrades moving their bodies out of the way to not raise an alarm.
The senate chair nods seeing her response then says "I do believe gender has nothing to do with the assignment of the recent flag officer by the committee on military oversight." Another senator then stands. "I have something else to address to the floor; your complete incompetence and lack of anything resembling a brain mister chairman..."
The senator for the League stood up, disgusted at what he was hearing. "If you will pardon me, I have better things to do then be insulted by a child in chair of a warship and one talking down to me here."
"Order" the chairmen demands.
The older female shot back. "I bet your wife feels the same way."
"I move for a motion of immediate removal of the so called chairmen..." She man who said he did not have a brain then added.
The League senator simply was shaking his head. "When this august body wishes to take matters SERIOUSLY, please contact me...until then, good day." he said simply before he started to make his way to the door, his security detail following.
One of the senatorial bodyguards see the shootings and draws his own weapon, fires in the general direction but is cut down (rolled a 3)(edited)
The senator whom threw the brain insult drew a gun. When the League senator tried to open the door it was sealed. "I believe the correct response to that was Aye..." He shoots the chairmen in the head. "You all are useless symbols of a new government that cannot support itself!" Meanwhile outside the Leauge senator can hear phaser fire. Security comes in through the back door and draws their weapons and a firefight begins on the senate floor between the senator, his security and the capital police. The Leauge Senator's security moves in defense of the man. One of the capital police transmits a communication. "control station one emergency... gate four is not responding, shots fireed on the senate floor and in the main hall... Requesting assistance." The transmission does not go through.(edited)
A capital police officer enters the room Sophie and the other senator are in and aims his gun at the senator only to be taken down by Sophie... A normal cop against a special forces tactical specialist... Sophie takes the cop down easily. The senator pulls out an emergency communication device but is unable to get through. "What on Earth... I can't get a line out... Why was security-" "I believe the better question senator is who is involved in tis and where your personal security detail is..."
Sarah was frighten by the aggressive response from the traitors. She feared for her life. She tried to keep her composure.
She stayed in the background trying to corporate with the radicals. She wondered if they would make it out alive. She heard shots.(edited)
The League senator shook his head, "Son either shoot me or let me get drunk enough that I can forget this useless excuse of a government."
Three of the older senators that had prior military experience, huddle close to one another and flip over the heavy table and prepare to engage.
She was being escorted off the floor. By a small security detachment. Mishel stayed to buy her some time to flee.
"We need to contact Delta Command. " Said Sarah.
The senators whom were part of this stand as others have scattered. Some o fthe capital police also shoot their allies. The leader of the capital police whom was the one on the radio is shot in the back of the head. "I believe the League senator has the right idea only he does not unerstand what he should do... This government is useless... We must return to the old ways.
The guards nodded as they worked on escaping the senate building. They where heading to in disclosed bunker.
Meanwhile Sophie and Senator Kepler leave the office and find a bunch of bodies. It looks like they gassed this office. The two make their way out to the hall. Captail police are fighting each other.
How bad was the fighting. Senate chairman was dead, Sarah was in Ascension for house leader. At the moment she needed to escape to preserve democracy.
The Capital police whom just killed their allies look around the room. "Senator Gilman, Senator Ekers... step forward; you dont want us to find you in this mess otherwise you won't like the result..."
This fight was far from over. Even if the radicals won today. They would reclaim the senate.
Senator El'Redar's security comes out of a back room iwth him as they were looking over archives. His guard hurriedly pushes him back inside the door and seals the dor locking the two of them in the back archives room of the senate hall hoping the corrupt police did not notice them.
The League senator liked what he was hearing and smiled as he sat back down willingly. "Please continue, son. You now have my full and undivided attention."
Sarah continued to flea with her personal guards. But at what, . people were dying for her. To allow her to escape. She felt guilty.
"Senator Boxer screamed. "Of course you'll listen you misogynistic bastard."
Sophie and Kepler help the non-corrupt captail police and make their way to the back door enterring getting into a firefight with the evil capital police while a seperate team takes Kepler through a back entrance out to a waiting evac shuttle that was loading all those who were not the enemy or not on the senate floor to leave.
Though noone can still get an outside line.
The League senator simply looked over at the other senator. "My dear I am anything but that... however our so called president refuses to accept the pure and simple fact that she has failed and became the very corruption that she herself accused others of doing."
The senator then did a dismissive motion. "Think about it...where is your precious president, probably off having another...what is the phrase again, ah yes.."
"Carain is no the problem; indesisive corrupt people like you are..." One of the other senators said as a gun was pointed at him.
The league senator then fixed Boxer with a hateful glare. "Hukari's on a booty call."
"I'll take a booty call over sedition you traitor. " Boxer offered.
Sophie and four Capital Police Officers in tactical gear walk into the senate hall as they return fire against the police whom were in the room trying to shoot senators. THe one aimed at that senator was shot in the head by their sniper whom was up on the second level. Sophie replies. "Alright this stops here... Drop your weapons if you value your lives... I am usually not one for political discussions but is cold blooded MURDER really worth your political agenda.... You all should be ashamed of yourselves...."
The building's intercom then comes open. "Thie is Senator Luxer of the Commerce Comittee... We have taken over your capital I would advise surrender that is if you want to live... Unlike the occupants of that poor evacuation shuttle."
In an less than candid tone, Boxer screams so the room can hear. "Fuck you Luxer. Make a martyr so the next 5 years will she you and your fellows criminals hunted down like the dogs your are!"
The league senator simply smiled. "It's not treason when you're the one who was betrayed first." Was the only thing that he said.
"Said the guy that doesn't play well with girls in charge" Boxer added.
The senator shook his head, "Oh give it up, it's not about gender but standing up for something and for too fucking long we have been forced to listen to someone pushing an agenda that was making Earth look like a cowardly bitch to the rest of the universe." The old man said before he pointed at Boxer. "This is not about fucking genders at ALL!"
Boxer replied "You also have a short memory. Don't you remember not that long ago, when there was so much corruption with the Senate that Carain HAD to come in and clean house. Missing a few of your fellow corrupt brothers is more what it sounds like. No more porkfest spending and lack of results. At least she is getting things done. Remind us all of YOUR contribution to the effort other than hot air."
"Yes I remember that, I also remember your precious president promising so much more of freedom this and happies that...yet I am here and where is she?" The senator simply smiled as he then motioned at the seat of the president, empty and quiet. "She's.not.here."
"You forgot why. The CEOs lining your pockets, who care more for money and humancentric thinking, along with restrictive policies for information dissemination ruined the UFP in the first place! She is out getting things done while you hide behind, steel, and glass, and bodyguards with no concern for anything but your own fat ass." Boxer said and then added "I REFUSE to sit idly by and watch you and the asshat coalition return us to the days of waste and corruption."
The league senator sighed and shook his head. "I would rather see this government become isolated then be filled with the lies that you keep spewing like so much vomit like a bunch of college kids at a Klingon kegger!"
"Just when the tide of the war starts turning in our favor, you and your buddies come out of the woodwork, like cockroaches in the middle of the night. I guess we know where your loyalties are. This discussion is over.” Boxer retorted
More Capital police enter as Sophie grabs Boxer and a couple of the others she has seen resisting and falls back out of the room with them (and Sarah) at least tring to get some of the previous government out of here. The traitor senators all look at each other as their allies enter the room and secure the senate chamber. Sophie takes the group and falls back into a transporter room. "Lets hope this still works..." She sets an evacuation transport and sends the senators to a secured room on the DFS Freedom which was in orbit completely unaware like a lot of the fleet there was even a problem. Once the senators were evacuated and and her team of capital police make another round but it seemed that either all the senators who fully supported Hukari were either dead, hostages or had already been evacuated so they return to the transporter room and return to the ship.
The Delta Force ships loyal to Hukari considered bombing the senate but with all the hostages and now some ships coming in defense of the capital along iwth its orgital defenses. The fleet withdraws back to earth however the orbital defense grid targets them as well. They fall back away from Earth heading for the nearest Delta Force installation.
Once the fleet had made it to an allied base the realize the extent of what had happened. This had been planned for awhile... Planetary security isnce it was controlled by the senate was already on their side, the police and a lot of admirals had already sided with the new group. Basically Delta Force or at least what was left of it was now on its own again with Trinity and colonies who did not suppor Earths hardline stance on humans are the best. Even though for those who were not human it id dnot make sense they still preferred a more isolationist government. Plus whomever controls the media controls how everything is spun

Hitomi had her hair done up in twin-tails as she made her way out of the tram. For a moment she stopped in front of a holographic video terminal. It was covering news of the bombing of the Presidential Compound… At least what the news was covering as a bombing but Hitomi knew better; just form how the explosions being seen from the sky; plus nobody would have been able to get past Earth’s orbital defenses like that unless the government wanted them too. “Dumbasses…” She said putting her hands in her sleeveless vest she was wearing over her tank and shorts. It was like a hoodie only without sleeves. Ed glanced over at her. “It is happening like you said it would… This won’t be as easy to deal with as Chaos…” He said as he pulled her against him. “Ya think… I may be a careless abrasive mech engineer but I’m not a complete idiot… the Kami siblings taught me that much… I don’t think the Night Hunters will be much use and neither will the others… We could do something though; if they don’t cause a holocaust…” “Not cool to say that Ami…” “It is the truth though you idiot… If you don’t think that look at all other government take overs; anyone who resists gets gassed, made to be the fall guy or in other ways smashed in… Hukari Carain is the only one who didn’t prison and execute her former and look what they did to her… gas ‘em all is what I say…” Hitomi said grinning at ed. “Between your carelessness, blue hair and fascination with killing people… Why are we friends again?” Ed teases her. “Because I’m just that awesome…” “Keep telling yourself that but hey you worked for the Night Hunters finished your degree and have been working for Arvanous repairing their mechs I guess knowing a girl who helps fix up and design the mechs that save the galaxy does make you pretty awesome…”
