In the few days since her talk with both Aidan and then his daughter, Emily decided to not let the depression that had been weighing heavily on her keep her from doing anything other then working and moping as she decided to focus on things that she had let fall to the wayside over the past few years as well as her career.
There were nights that she would start to cry at which point the section of the ship where her quarters was located would be filled with the faint whispers of cello music as she would play the instrument that had called to her when she was a child thousands of years ago was the only thing that could calm her tears and it took roughly a week after the "break" started, she was crying less and less until finally she was playing the instrument more for her own quiet enjoyment then anything.
She also used this time to try and make changes to how people viewed her with one of those changes being a formal change in uniform as she was no longer apart of intelligent but now actually apart of command and the Trinity's command structure and as such, she no longer wore a uniform that granted her ease of movement and made her look like a sleek predator with very sensual curves that she would often use in years past as a distraction from the knife that she would slip under the rib cage of her enemies..
Now she was wearing the standard uniform that had more of a suit cut to it with the standard issue skirt to it instead of the usual pants, not for any reason other then it was a change that she felt comfortable in trying than any other reason that the rumor mongers on the ships could come up with.
When she was working, she kept herself focused on just that-her job-as Yuka had been burdened with even more responsibilities as of late with the recent restructuring of the Federation into some kind of Alliance and the expansion of the Trinity forces into something bigger and more complex as well, which today like so many others had her sitting at her desk in her office (a concept that was still mind boggling to her) with her blue-violet eyes scanning over various reports from everywhere with the occasional item catching her attention and weighing it to see if it should be moved along to Yuka's terminal for her notification, such as the two items that she had just sent along with her own notes on them.
Item #1: a group of colonies near MSA space have broken away and started to refer to themselves as the "People's Republic of Regulus". Could be a minor issue, might want to have Cameron's people look into this.
--Note: Marxism is still alive in this era? Weird.
Item #2: Lack of a doomsday cult concerning the swarm. This item is from Lieutenant Pierce over in security, he points out that we've yet to see any kind of "cult" pointing to the Swarm as being "divine judgement" or "access to the next plane of existence" or anything like that which is honestly odd and confusing.
--Note: Do you want me to recruit a team of specialists to make sure nothing like that have popped up because that could be a major internal security issue if one does pop up.
Emily then leaned back and rubbed her eyes before standing up to get a glass of water and was about to enjoy the cool liquid when the door to her office slid open and Master Chief Petty Officer Tinya Pryde stormed in, her blue eyes a blaze of fury for some reason as she slammed a data PADD down on Emily's desk with a decided authority. "Can I help you, chief?" Emily asked, one dark eyebrow arching.
"Of course you can, lieutenant." Tinya growled as she glared at the older woman. "Could you please explain to me why I've been ordered away from my post as the Lavie's chief of the boat and into this office as one of the NEWLY MINTED VICE ADMIRAL'S AIDES??!"
Emily blinked at that before a coy smile crossed her features while saying "Maybe the show's creators wanted to get more out of your actress?" in a lightly teasing tone.
The attempt at humor was apparently lost on the taller woman as her eyes grew brighter with anger as she took a step forward with a growling "why you..."
Emily simply took it in stride before taking a pull from her glass and setting it down. "Or did you ask yourself if it was really Yuka who signed off on that order?" Emily pointed out.
Now this caused Tinya to stop and look at Emily with a confused look on her face. "What do you mean?" she asked, her rage pulling back a little bit.
Emily took another pull from her glass before gesturing to her with it, "I asked if I could have my own staff since Yuka was being promoted and I was told yes, so I chose the most qualified person that I could think of to work with me...which was you." Emily stated simply.
Tinya's rage abetted a little bit as she continued to glare at Emily for a few more seconds before finally shaking her head. "But I signed on to be the chief of the boat for the Lavie." she said simply.
Emily nodded, "Yes but you're also a master chief petty officer of the entire Trinity services effectively." she pointed out before motioning outside at the large flotilla of ships. "They are all your boats now, Tintin."
Tinya blinked a couple of times in realization before she slowly nodded. "So what do you need me to do then, Emily?" she asked, her curiosity evident in her eyes where the rage once sit.
Emily smiled, "I need a firm hand on the engineering and straight up naval front among other things." she explained before moving closer and offering her a hand. "Plus I need a partner, kind of like Reboo and Zooty...Penn and Teller."
Tinya looked at the pro offered hand for a few seconds before nodding and taking it, shaking her hand. "Just one thing though." she asked.
Emily nodded, "What's that?"
"Who's Penn and Teller?" was the blonde's response.
Emily couldn't help but get a bigger smile on her face. "Yeah..this is gonna take a lot of work."
